Two men and a young girl were killed on Thursday in separate incidents in Quetta, Khuzdar and Dera Bugti.
A man, identified as Ainuddin, was killed when he tried to fight off robbers in Nawa Killi on the city’s outskirts. According to eyewitnesses, armed robbers tried to snatch valuables from Ainuddin and shot him when he put up a resistance.
The area has become a magnet for robberies and the incident led to protests by the local community and political activists.
A large number of activists of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) rushed to hospital and took out a protest rally along with the corpse and chanted slogans against the administration.
They placed the body outside the Quetta Press Club and staged a demonstration, while blaming police for its inability to track down the robbers. They called upon the administration to take strict action against police officials for their alleged negligence and recommended that they be suspended.
In another incident, unidentified motorcycle riders shot dead Anwar in Khuzdar. Police sources said the motive behind the murder has yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, a minor girl was killed and four others wounded when a landmine exploded in Dera Bugti district. The dead and the injured were shifted to hospital for medical aid. The names of the deceased and the injured were not immediately available.
