Fairness: ‘Musharraf being harassed’
The court adjourned the hearing till June 10.
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court on Thursday adjourned a petition against alleged harassment of former president General (retired) Pervez Musharraf and seeking a fair opportunity to defend himself against the allegations. Barrister Javed Iqbal Jaffrey has filed the petition, saying that the former ruler was being harassed by the state and was being treated like a convict. He said that even an accused man had fundamental rights which could not be usurped in any case. The petitioner asked the court to order the government to provide protection to Musharraf and treat him in accordance with the law. The court adjourned the hearing till June 10 when the petitioner will argue on the maintainability of his plea.
