Lashari infighting: Police arrest suspects, refuse to disclose names
According to sources, the raids were led by Khairpur SSP Umer Salamat.
SUKKUR:
In overnight raids in different villages, the Khairpur police arrested several suspects for their alleged involvement in killing of six people in Fateh Ali Lashari village on Tuesday morning.
According to sources, the raids were led by Khairpur SSP Umer Salamat. The area residents told the media that a heavy contingent of police, supported by armoured personnel carrier, conducted door-to-door search and arrested several suspects.
The killings took place over a marriage between Raheeman Lashari and Ali Hassan Lashari. Raheeman reportedly divorced her husband and eloped with Ali four years back which sparked tensions between the families. The dispute was resolved two years later by a jirga but both the parties violated the verdict. The indiscriminate firing by armed men left six people dead. Kotdiji SHO Akbar Almani was suspended and Qalb-e-Abbas Shah has taken over the charge. Shah confirmed the arrests but refused to disclose the names.
