KHAR:
Troubled by alleged domestic disputes, three women committed suicide in the different areas of the Bajaur tribal region on Tuesday.

According to the officials of the local administration the first incident occurred in Nawa village of tehsil Nawagi. 18-years old Kalsoom Bibi took pills. When her condition worsened, her family rushed her to the hospital for treatment, where she died.

According to locals, Kalsoom was due to be married next week. Her family though denied the marriage was the reason behind her actions.

“We don’t know about the causes of this tragic incident but the marriage issue is totally baseless,” her father Abdul Wadod said.

In another incident, 20-year old Zakira Bibi died in Charmang, tehsil Nawagi, after she consumed poison.

The reason for her suicide was not immediately apparent but locals suggested it could have been the result of a domestic dispute. She was married to a man named Imran.

In Batia, tehsil Khar, 30 year-old woman Zetoon bibi allegedly shot herself. On Tuesday morning, her family members heard a gunshot coming from her room. They immediately rushed to the spot to discover her fatally injured.

Zetoon was taken to the agency headquarter hospital Khar where she succumbed to her wounds while under treatment. The reason behind the apparent suicide could not be immediately ascertained though domestic dispute was suggested.

The local administration of the agency says three separate investigations into the incidents have been launched.

“We have started investigation to these tragic incident and three different committees have been formed for this purpose.”
