President summons NA session on June 1
At least 120 first-time legislators expected to take oath.

ISLAMABAD:
Within 24 hours of receiving a summary from the law and parliamentary affairs’ ministry, President Asif Ali Zardari summoned on Tuesday the first session of the 14th National Assembly (NA) on June 1 and invited its newly elected members to take oath at the parliament house.
The summary is first prepared by the ministry, then sent to the prime minister’s secretariat before it is forwarded to the presidency.
Presidential spokesperson Senator Farhatullah Babar said the president signed the summary in exercise of powers conferred under clause (1) of Article 54 of the Constitution.
A statement issued by the National Assembly Secretariat said that the June 1 session would be held at 10 am and outgoing Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza will administer the oath to the new legislators.
Once the parliamentarians take oath, nomination papers for the leader of the house will be submitted while elections for the next prime minister will be held on June 5.
According to reports, 120 members will be taking oath as members of the lower house for the first time.
In order to assist incoming lawmakers, the NA secretariat has set up ‘facilitation desks’ in parliament house, parliament lodges, government hostel and at Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad.
According to the NA secretariat, the facilitation desks will begin work from 29th May, 2013 till the conclusion of the session.
The desk established at the parliament house will collect the bio-data and other information of the MNAs besides preparing their special identity cards. The facilitation desk at parliament lodges and government hostel will assist the parliamentarians about their accommodation.
Similarly, the desk established in Rawal Lounge, Benazir Bhutto International Airport will be responsible for receiving the lawmakers arriving by air and transporting them to parliament lodges and the government hostel.
Following the oath taking, nomination papers for the new speaker and deputy speaker will be submitted in the speaker’s chamber on June 2, while elections for the two slots will be held on June 3 with the outgoing speaker swearing in her successor.
