Measles: Thirteen more cases reported in Pindi
A District Headquarters Hospital official said the situation was not serious enough to merit an isolation ward.
RAWALPINDI:
There is no let up in measles cases as 13 more were reported in Holy Family Hospital (HFH) and Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) on Tuesday, taking the tally to 591 cases since January.
The disease continues to threaten children as no proper vaccination drive has been launched in the district. A District Headquarters Hospital official said the situation was not serious enough to merit an isolation ward. “Serious cases are referred to BBH or HFH,” he said. HFH spokesperson Dr Javed Hayat termed the situation normal. He said concern would be raised if reporting went to over 100 cases a day. District Health Officer Dr Khalid Randhawa said only one child out of 591 cases detected has died.
