Unabated killings: Political activist among eight killed in the city

KARACHI: A political worker was among eight people killed in separate incidents of violence in the city on Tuesday.

Rashid, son of Abdul Shakoor, was shot dead outside his home in Noorani Basti. The victim was a worker of the Muttahida Organising Committee, a sub-group of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement. Police officials said that Rashid was killed by unidentified persons and further investigation is underway to find the motive. His body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy.

In another incident in the same locality, an employee of a private internet company was killed near 100-Quarters, Zaman Town. Police officials said that 25-year old Taimur, son of Shamim Rizvi, lived in Orangi Town and had come to the area to supply an internet device. The motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained.

Two armed men on a motorcycle killed a 40-year old teashop owner, Zar Wali, son of Hazrat Saad, outside his shop in C-1 within the remit of Super Market police. The victim was a resident of Ilyas Goth in Liaquatabad.



A beauty parlour owner was shot dead by two armed men outside his residence in Pirabad, Orangi Town. According to the police, Faisal Iman, son of Qaiser Imam, ran a beauty parlour and a cosmetic shop in his house. The 30-year old victim was shot twice.

A bookshop owner, Saeed Baig, son of Mansoor Baig, was killed when two armed men entered his shop and opened indiscriminate firing on him in Orangi Town. According to the police, Saeed died on the spot.

An unidentified young woman was found dead near the ICI Bridge on Mauripur Road. Police officials, while quoting the witnesses, said that unidentified suspects threw the victim’s body from a moving car and escaped. The girl was shot multiple times. The police said that the motive behind the killing could only be known once the woman is identified.

Another unidentified body of a young man was found from Mauripur Road near Dua Hotel in a gunny bag. The police said that the victim was shot and killed and the body also bore several marks of torture.

A young man was stabbed to death in his cattle farm while resisting a robbery attempt in Mureed Goth, Steel Town. The police said the victim was 28-year old Ayub, son of Qasim.
