Way forward: ‘Govt will need long-term policies’
Tax collection would have to be a vital part of policy to revive the economy, says Asad Umar.

Central Senior Vice President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Asad Umar on Tuesday said that long term pragmatic policies were needed for revival of national economy. The new government would have to fix the energy crisis on priority basis, he added while talking to the press. Umer said the local and international investment could be attracted by solving the energy problem and restoring law and order in the country. The PTI leader said that tax collection would have to be a vital part of policy to revive the economy. The elites should also be taxed he said, stressing that tax reforms were must for economic growth. The business community should also be taken on board and their reservations should be removed while reforming the tax system. Replying to a question, he said that no government in the past has ever given subsidies for the benefit of common people.
