KURRAM AGENCY:
Eight militants were killed when fighter jets bombed their hideouts in Kurram Agency on Tuesday, Radio Pakistan reported.

Three of their hideouts were destroyed by fighter jets near Zara Mela and Para Chamkanni in a crackdown against militants.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is on the frontline of a nearly seven-year domestic Taliban insurgency and suffers near-daily bomb and shooting attacks blamed on militants.

Attacks between security officials and the militants have seen a rise forcing the residents of tribal areas to seek refuge elsewhere, often without ample food and water supplies.

On May 7, militants took control of several security check-posts in the Masuzai and Para Chamkani mountainous areas of Central Kurram, Haji Sadeen Khan said. On May 9, a heavy gunfight erupted between security forces and militants in the area, forcing the families to flee for safety.
