Dr AQ Khan protocol restored on LHC orders

LHC summons deputy attorney general and directs him to restore security protocol in compliance with court orders.

LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) restored the security protocol of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan on Monday and issued a contempt of court notice to the Federation to clear its position on October 8.

Justice Ijaz Chaudhry summoned the deputy attorney general and directed him to restore the security protocol of Dr Qadeer in compliance with the court orders.

Earlier, Dr Qadeer had written to Justice Ijaz, stating that the government is not implementing the court orders and his movements are still restricted in the name of protocol.

Dr Qadeer had claimed that the protocol given to him by the Federation was in violation of fundamental rights as he had been barred from meeting his relatives, political leaders or media representatives.

No foreign access for interrogation

Pakistan said on September 26 that it would not allow any foreign country to interrogate Dr A Q Khan, a clear rebuff to a top US diplomat who unveiled a fresh demand for access to the nuclear scientist.
