PTF to organise summer season tourneys
National events to start on May 29 in different cities.
KARACHI:
Paying heed to concerns from players about the lack of tournaments in the country, the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) will organise its first summer season, including a series of five tournaments starting May 29 in Karachi.
According to a PTF official, the federation has scheduled five other back-to-back tournaments – two in Karachi and three in Islamabad – to promote the sport and give top players a chance to stay in shape.
The series will start in Karachi, with the Indus Pharma Open National Seniors and Juniors Tennis Championship to be held from May 29 to June 4.
The Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Tournament will get underway on June 7 in Islamabad and is likely to feature players like Aqeel Khan, Yasir Khan and Jalil Khan.
The Motorway PTF National Ranking Tennis Tournament will start on June 13 in Islamabad before the DHA Karachi National Tennis Championship 2013 begins on June 17 that will feature the country’s top eight men and women players.
The concluding tournament will be the Askari Bank National Juniors Tennis Championship on July 3 in Islamabad.
