BAHAWALPUR:

A man was arrested on Sunday for shooting at a rival group resulting in injury to one of them.

Police said they had seized the weapon used.

The injured man was taken to a hospital, where doctors treating him said that he would likely survive. They said he was shot in the abdomen, arms and the chest. They said the man had undergone a surgery and that he would remain at the hospital for a few days.

Musafir Khana police said that Muhammad Binyamin was visiting Muhammad Yaqoob and Muhammad Ishaaq at their field in Data Khan village, when seven men the hosts had had a dispute with, arrived and started an argument over irrigation water.

Police said the argument led to a scuffle and one of the men from the visiting group fired some shots hitting Binyamin.

One of the assailants, Muhammad Zulfiqar, was caught and handed over to the police. Police said they had seized his double barrel gun.

His accomplices- Muhammad Akram, Abdur Rasheed, Muhammad Saif and three unidentified men- fled.
