Seminar : Women empowerment and tax reform

Participants of the seminar say economic empowerment of women is one of the many strategies to elevate their status.

ISLAMABAD:
The Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) is organising a seminar on “Tax break for economic freedom: The case of divorced mothers, divorced disabled and never married women in Pakistan” on Monday.

The seminar pleads the case of divorced mothers, divorced disabled and unmarried and married women in Pakistan, and argues that they should be exempted from taxes in up coming budget so that they can get rid of the financial burden and plays their role in society in a more productive way. Executive Director Sachet Dr Rakhshinda Perveen, former president of Women’s Caucus of the African Literature Association USA Professor Dr Huma Ibrahim, and Dr Usman Mustafa from Pakistan Institute of Development Economics, will discuss the importance of economic development and empowerment of women in perspective of Pakistani society. Participants of the seminar said that economic empowerment of women is one of the many strategies to elevate their status.
