Hand grenade attack on Karachi school injures teacher, students

No causalities reported; attackers flee the scene.

KARACHI:
Unidentified miscreants threw a hand grenade at a government school in the Orangi Town area, Karachi, injuring a teacher and few students, reported Express News on Friday.


There were no causalities as a result of this attack. Eyewitnesses said the unidentified men fled the scene soon after the attack.


Other schools have been attacked by grenades in the area before.

Similarly, philanthropist and social activist Abdul Waheed, was shot dead on May 13 by unidentified men at his medical store in Islamia Colony, Manghopir.

Waheed ran a private educational institution, Naunehal Public School in SITE and Orangi. He was known for his humanitarian work and for assisting Parween Rehman on the Orangi Pilot Project.  After attacking Waheed, the unidentified men detonated an explosive device which created panic in the area and fled.
