Accidental deaths: Seven killed in accidents in three cities

Seven others injured are said to be out of danger.

Seven people were reportedly killed and seven others injured on Thursday in various accidents and crime-related incidents in several cities of the province.


A woman was killed and five others were injured on Thursday after a passenger van overturned in Khanewal.

Rescue 1122 officials said that the van was on its way to Chak 27/10-R, when the driver lost control of the vehicle. One of the passengers, identified as Manzoor Bibi, died on the spot. Sahib Bibi, Naseem, Shamim, Muhktiar and Khursheed Bibi were taken to the district headquarters hospital with injuries. Doctors treating them later said that they were out of danger.  The van driver told police that he had tried to avoid a cart driving in the opposite direction and so lost control of the vehicle.

In Sargodha, a man and his wife were killed and two others were injured when a car overturned in Shahpur Saddar. The accident occurred near Chak Machianwala.

Police said a family was on its way to Jhelum from Hadali in Khushab district, when one of the cars’ tyres burst causing it to overturn.

Muhammad Ismail and his wife Zareena Bibi died on the spot. Their son Muhammad Waqas and an elderly woman Khatoon Bibi were injured. They were taken to the district headquarters hospital in a Rescue 1122 ambulance. Doctors later described their condition out of danger.

Crime

Unidentified men shot two people dead on Thursday near Niazi Chowk in Khanewal.

Police said Nadeem Iqbal and Malik Safdar were on their way home when four men, riding a car, shot them, killing them on the spot. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. Family of the deceased said that they had no idea about who could have killed them. They said the deceased did not have any known enemies. In Kasur, a man and a girl were killed in separate incidents

Police said Dilawar had an argument with Imran, Akbar and Nasir over a petty issue in Mir Muhammad village in Haveli Dogranwali and they came to blows. One of them stabbed Dilwar. Some passers-by took him to a hospital, where he died a few hours later.

A case has been registered against the suspects, who have been missing since the incident, police said.

In Harikaynul village in Khuddian, a man shot dead his sister for serving breakfast late. He has not been arrested yet, but the police have registered a case against him on the complaint of his parents.
