Summer vacations: Schools shut from June 14 to Aug 13

KARACHI: Public and private schools across the province will be closed for summer vacations from June 14 to August 13, said education secretary Dr Fazlullah Pechuho on Thursday.

This year, the education department steering committee met in January and made a unanimous decision about which months to allocate for the summer vacations.

“Representatives of private schools from the Matric and the Cambridge system have agreed to hold vacations from the middle of June till the middle of August for the next three years,” said Jameel Yusuf, who represented an association of Cambridge schools.

The former education minister, Pir Mazharul Haq, said that people’s demand to hold vacations during Ramazan will be met for the next three years as the holy month will fall during vacations.

After three years, the schools will revert to the traditional June-July vacation period.
