SUKKUR:

The police arrested one CID official and two members of a car lifting gang in a raid in Barrage Colony on late Wednesday night.

A police party led by ASP Sukkur city Abdul Raheem Shirazee acted on a tip off and arrested the two car lifters, Yasin and Imran Bhayo. The police also seized a Toyota XLI and Rs1.3 million from their possession. A case has been registered against them at A-section police station.

According to sources, some CID officials, including sub-inspector Malik Zahid and constables Nisar Soomro, Abid and Khadim Chahcar were also in the colony to strike a deal with Yasin and Bhayo. The police could, however, only manage to arrest Soomro while the others fled. They also said that Rs3.3 million were taken from the car lifters but only Rs1.3million were declared in the FIR and the matter has been brought into the notice of the authorities and investigation is underway.

A-section station head constable Sikandar told The Express Tribune that they did not arrest any CID official during the raid as they escaped but the police are looking into the matter.

ASP Shirazee could not be contacted despite several attempts.
