Twelve-year-old dies after being run over by water tanker in Korangi
Police arrest the tanker driver as locals attempt to torch the vehicle after the incident

A water tanker claimed another life in the city on Friday when a 12-year-old boy was run over in Korangi’s 100 Quarters area, police said.
The incident took place near the main market in Bangali Para when the child, identified as Farhan, son of Noor Muhammad, came under the rear wheels of a water tanker. He was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre by an Edhi ambulance but did not survive.
Residents said Farhan, a madrassa student and the youngest of eight siblings, had rented a bicycle and was returning it after playing in a nearby ground when he was hit. They added that a speeding motorcycle brushed against the boy, causing him to fall, and the passing tanker then ran over him. The tanker was reportedly moving at a slow speed.
Locals also complained that road encroachments have narrowed the street, which increases the likelihood of such incidents.
Zaman Town SHO Nafeesur Rehman said some residents attempted to set the tanker on fire after the accident, but police intervened and arrested the driver, identified as Noor Hussain Shah. The vehicle was also impounded.
Police are checking whether the driver had a valid licence and whether the tanker had a tracker or required documentation. The investigation is under way.
