PESHAWAR: Six people were arrested and one man was killed during a joint operation in the outskirts of the city along the border of Frontier Region (FR) Peshawar by the security forces and police on Tuesday.

Security forces launched an operation early in the morning in two villages, Inzer Garhi and Sara Dargai, and other areas along the FR Peshawar border after a bomb blast and an attack were carried out against the police in the last two days.

The security forces arrested six people who were shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

A man identified as Zareen Khan, resident of Sara Dargai, was killed during the operation as he resisted the search operation and clashed with the security forces.

Police later joined the operation in the noon during which several houses were searched and weapons were seized from the houses.

Initially, around 25 people were arrested but 19 of them were released in the evening while six of them were taken away by the security forces, said a local resident on the condition of anonymity.
