LAHORE:

A consumer court on Monday issued notice to the proprietor of a battery shop for June 19 on a suit filed by a disgruntled customer who alleges that he was sold a defective battery.

Petitioner Muhammad Asif told the court that on February 20, he had bought a battery from Ashraf Battery Service for Rs9,800 with a warrantee. After a few days, he said, the battery had stopped working. He had then contacted the respondent, who apparently repaired the battery and returned it to him in a few days.

But the battery soon stopped working again, the petitioner said. The respondent then stopped responding to his complaints, even though he had a warrantee, he said. He asked the court to direct the respondent to pay him Rs95,000 in damages.
