Inflation: Index up 0.22% during week
SPI for the week ended May 16 has registered an increase of 0.35% over the previous week for the lowest income group.
ISLAMABAD:
The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), for the week ended May 16 has registered an increase of 0.35% over the previous week for the lowest income group. The SPI for the week under review for the above mentioned group was recorded at 186.78 points against 186.13 points registered in the previous week, according provisional figures from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. The SPI for combined groups was up by 0.22%; up from 191.58 points in the previous week to 192.01 points this week. Compared to the corresponding week last year, the SPI for combined groups inflated 4.57%. During the week under review, average prices of indexed items changed as follows: 8 items registered a decrease, 18 items increased and the remaining 27 items’ prices remained unchanged.
