For love or money: Man beaten to death

GUJRANWALA: A man was beaten to death on Thursday over an alleged robbery attempt. Police said Falak Sher had apparently entered a house in Ahmed Nagar Chattha Baigan in Wazirabad and was caught by the men of the house. They beat him up until he fainted. Police were informed and Sher was taken to a hospital, but he died on the way. The body was sent for a post-mortem examination. The family of the deceased said that Sher was not a robber. They said he had wanted to marry a woman from the neighbourhood, but her family did not approve of it since he was already married. They said on Thursday, the woman’s father Saifullah and brothers forcibly took him to their house and beat him until he died. They then called the police pretending that Sher had illegally entered their house and had misbehaved with the women. An assault and murder case was registered against the woman’s father and brothers, who the police said were missing.
