Punjab Police: SC orders promotion of 200 officers

The bench was hearing the matter at the Supreme Court registry in Lahore.

LAHORE: A division bench of the Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered the promotion of more then 200 deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) and inspectors of Punjab Police to the next grade.

The bench ordered the inspector general of Punjab Police to form a committee to determine the seniority of the officials and submit a notification to the court after promoting them. The bench headed by Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani passed the order while disposing of petitions filed by DSP Safdar Raza Kazmi and others, who complained that the police authorities were not giving them their due promotions. The bench was hearing the matter at the Supreme Court registry in Lahore.
