Election victory: Nawaz fields calls from Obama, Rahul
PML-N chief meets US, Saudi ambassadors.

US President Barack Obama telephoned Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Nawaz Sharif to congratulate him on his success in the general elections.
According to an official handout by the PML-N, Obama appreciated Nawaz Sharif’s election campaign, which, he said, Nawaz conducted with bravery and the US respected his mandate.
“We have heard good news about your personality and hope we will soon have a meeting,” Obama said.
The US president further said that his country wishes strong and friendly trade ties with Pakistan.
Nawaz also received a congratulatory phone call from Vice President of the Indian National Congress Rahul Gandhi, and held talks with the US and Saudi Arabian ambassadors, on Tuesday.
US Ambassador Richard Olson and Saudi Arabia Ambassador Abdul Aziz Ibrahim Saleh Al Ghadeer called on Nawaz at his residence in Raiwind to congratulate him over his victory. Senator Ishaq Dar, Shahbaz Sharif and Salman Shahbaz Sharif were also present in the meeting.
Shahbaz underscored the need for good relations between the US and Pakistan and said that Pakistan would strengthen their bilateral ties.
According to the US consulate office in Lahore, Olson congratulated Nawaz on PML-N’s success in the National Assembly and provincial assembly elections, and underscored the US’ commitment to a strong bilateral relationship with Pakistan based on respect and mutual interests.
