The Peshawar High Court (PHC) disposed of a suo motu notice taken upon a Human Rights Directorate (HRD) application which quoted media reports of a shortage of basic necessities at Jalozai camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs).
The court issued directions to all respondents to continue facilitating the IDPs and warned of initiating contempt of court proceedings if it received any complaints from the tribesmen in the future.
During the hearing on Tuesday, an election commission official informed the court the IDPs were given the opportunity to vote in the elections. He added re-election will be held in over 26 of the 38 polling stations in Shahkas area of Khyber Agency.
The PHC also directed the concerned officials to facilitate the residents during the re-election.
