Residents of Satellite Town have been hit hard by water shortages and the inconvenience caused by a dysfunctional tube-well the only one in the area that has been lying idle over the past week.
“This is a densely populated area but no arrangements have been made by the Rawalpindi civic agency to supply clean drinking water to us. We don’t have the time to fetch water from filtration plants operating in remote localities,” said Iqbal, a resident. Despite repeated requests, no steps had been taken to repair the tube-well thus far, he added.
“When we are finding it difficult to purchase basic necessities for our families, how can we be expected to purchase water?” asked Daud, another resident. The residents demanded immediate supply of clean drinking water to the area.
When contacted, RDA spokesperson Umar said he would be sending mechanics to repair the tube-well as soon as possible in addition to supplying the area with a water tanker.
