Sindh Election: Faryal and Azra face tough contest

Five years ago, all opponents had withdrawn their nomination papers in favour of Faryal Talpur.

ISLAMABAD:
Unlike the 2008 general elections, senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders Faryal Talpur and Azra Fazal Pechuho may face tough competition in their Larkana and Benazirabad constituencies during the May 11 elections.

Five years ago, all opponents had withdrawn their nomination papers in favour of Faryal Talpur.

But this time she will compete with 36 other candidates in her constituency, including the chairperson of Pakistan Peoples Party - Shaheed Bhutto (PPP-SB) and the widow of Mir Murtaza Bhutto, Ghinwa Bhutto.

Likewise, Azra Fazal will face 30 candidates in the forthcoming elections.

According to some political analysts, the PPP polled a high number of sympathy votes in the last general elections but in these polls, the situation may not be favourable for the party.
