Four persons, including a police constable, were killed while three others were injured when an explosive device detonated near a water spring in Surmaal Torghar village on Thursday evening.
“It was a timed device planted near the water spring,” said DPO Torghar Shah Nazar Khan. He added police personnel were on their way to fetch water from the spring located near the village, some five kilometres from district headquarters Jadbah, when the device went off. Khan said the blast occurred while the officers and some villagers were filling pitchers with water, injuring several people severely.
He added three civilians and a police constable were killed on the spot while three others including a police constable were referred to Ayub Medical Complex in Abbottabad.
Those killed were identified as Constable Muhammad Rafiq, Khitab son of Ghulab, Naseem son of Naseer, and Syed Khan. A police constable was also killed in a timed explosion in Torghar on April 24. Two other persons, including a civilian, were also severely injured in this blast.
