Murder: Mystery shrouds girl’s death

The officer said the girl’s parents were attending a wedding and the girl was home alone when the incident occurred.

RAWALPINDI:
The police have failed to solve the mystery of a female student’s death. Mehek Tahir, 22, a masters student at Quaid-i-Azam University, was found dead at her house in City Villa in the Airport police area on Saturday. Sub-Inspector Mian Imran Abbas, the in-charge at Gulrez checkpoint, said that his team entered the room to find the girl lying on her bed with a rope around her neck. “The body of the girl would have been hanging from the ceiling if she had committed suicide, but she was laying on the bed with everything else in order,” he said. It would be premature to say anything until the postmortem was completed, he said. Abbas said that they had also asked doctors to take blood and DNA samples to find out if she had been assaulted. The officer said the girl’s parents were attending a wedding and the girl was home alone when the incident occurred.
