KARACHI: The entire education department appears helpless as over 30 officers working in own-pay scale (OPS) against higher positions have refused to leave their posts despite receiving their suspension orders.

The suspension letters were issued by acting education secretary Shafiq Mehar on the orders of the Supreme Court.

The defiant officers have questioned as to why Mumtaz Ujjan, another OPS officer working as regional director colleges, Karachi, has not been suspended.
