PESHAWAR:

Voicing their support for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), party chief Imran Khan’s sisters went door to door in Peshawar making Saturday one of the busiest campaigning days for party activists.

Imran Khan’s sisters Aleema, Uzma, Noreen along with PTI Women’s Wing Central Leader Fouzia Qasuri and provincial and district female activists went door to door in the congested parts of the city in order to ask housewives to vote for the party.

The NA-1 constituency, where Khan is contesting from, comprises urban areas of the city along with some suburban areas as well.

Though female activists of the PTI have been actively campaigning door to door since last week, Khan’s sisters were particularly invited this time to meet party workers and boost their morale as the party chairman himself was busy in his nationwide campaign, said PTI Women Wing leader Ayesha Gulalai Wazir.

Khan’s sisters met members of the Insaf Student Federation and activists at the NA-1, PK-1, PK-2 and PK-3 election offices.

Although a large number of female and male activists were seen accompanying Khan’s sisters, PTI candidates for the three provincial assembly seats were not present.

After visiting a number of areas such as Sethian Mohallah, Ghareebabad, Sikandar Town, Hussain Abad, Shaheen Muslim Town and Gulbahar, the campaign security head advised Khan’s sisters not to visit Bhanamari due to security concerns. However, despite the warning, Khan’s sisters visited Bhanamari where scores of party activists greeted them.

The campaign eventually took the shape of a car rally with female activists waving at onlookers and distributing party flags and caps. The campaign aimed to boost support for PTI candidates, particularly those for provincial assembly seats, who at present have little influence in their constituencies.

Khan’s sisters were accompanied by Begum Naseem Hayat, Esmat Ara Khattak, Zareen Zia Marwat, Dr Meher Taj and Rabia Basri.
