North waziristan: PPP candidate withdraws from NA-40
The candidate’s supporters were disgruntled over the news.
MIRANSHAH:
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate from NA-40 North Waziristan Agency withdrew his papers after a fight between him and the party’s provincial leadership.
Malik Khanzada told journalists at the Miranshah Press Club on Friday that he has decided not to contest the upcoming polls. “I took this bitter decision due to differences with PPP Provincial President Anwar Saifullah Khan.”
He, however, did not explain the nature of these differences. The candidate’s supporters were disgruntled over the news. Ruling out the assumption that he had quit because of threats from militants, Khanzada said the party leadership created hurdles for him as the elections drew near. “No militant group threatened me,” he said.
