KARACHI:
PTV won the Patron’s Trophy Grade II final, defeating KESC in the final but their future remained unclear as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to decide on their promotion to first-class cricket.

The uncertainty is surprising given the PCB’s resolve at improving the state of domestic cricket in the country.

When contacted, PCB officials said a decision about the promotion and relegations of teams is yet to be taken with the board’s cricket committee, headed by director general Javed Miandad, due to finalise the matter.

“Miandad’s currently in Abbottabad for the national team training camp and a decision will only be made when he returns,” a PCB official told The Express Tribune. “The committee will decide whether any promotion to first-class circuit and relegation to Grade-II should be allowed.”

Meanwhile, Zeeshan Mushtaq (81), Nawaz Ahmed (63) and Rizwan Ahmed (54) helped PTV chase down a 288-run target to beat KESC by five wickets at the Mirpur Stadium.

PTV pocketed Rs200,000 after clinching the title, while KESC earned Rs100,000.
