Behind bars: Two men sentenced to life

A district and sessions court sentenced two men, Alam Sher and Mujahid, who were accused of robbing, raping and killing a woman on January 30, 2006, to life imprisonment on Saturday. The prosecution claimed that the criminals barged into the woman’s house in DHA and raped her before shooting her dead. A case had been registered against the two men at the Darakhsan police station. Section 10-4 was later replaced with Section 376-2 (punishment for gang rape) on the complaint of the victim’s brother. The court also imposed a fine of Rs50,000 on the two culprits who would have to spend another six months in prison if they don’t pay up. They have now been sent to prison to serve their sentence.
