Road accidents: 8-year old dies in motorcycle crash

In another incident, truck driver’s helper hit by truck.

A man and his eight-year-old son died on Sunday after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a train.


Rescue officials said that the man had died on the spot, while the son died at a hospital a few hours later.

They said the accident occurred at around 11am when Ihsanul Haq, a resident of Chak 60, who was riding a motorcycle, tried to cross the Panj Mori railway crossing ahead of Hazaara Express travelling from Rawalpindi to Karachi.

Witnesses said while crossing the line, the rear tyre of the motorcycle got stuck in a pothole. Before Haq could get out, the train ran into them. Haq was run over, while the child was tossed away.

The bodies were handed over to the family after they declined the offer for a post-mortem examination.



In Khanpur, a 20-year-old was killed and another was injured in a road accident near Farid Shah Mor.

Police said Muhammad Imran was on his way to Channi Goth from Liaqatpur on a motorcycle, when he was hit by a pick-up van headed in the opposite direction.

Imran died on the spot. The van driver was also injured.

He was taken to Bahawal Victoria Hospital, where doctors treating him said that he was in critical condition.

In Malikwal, a truck driver’s help was killed when he was hit by another truck.

Police said Hafiz Saddam Hussain was closing the back door of his truck after loading salt from PMDC stocks, when another truck hit him. He was killed on the spot. The body was sent to Civil Hospital.

In Mianwali, a youth, who had been injured in a motorcycle accident a few days ago, died at a hospital on Sunday.

Police said Muhammad Bashir of the Salu Khel tribe had been hit by a motorcycle. Doctors who had treated him said he had several broken bones.
