Constituency Mansehra: Sharif’s son-in-law fighting for home turf

Nawabzada had been winning this constituency since 1988 on the ticket of PML-N.

PESHAWAR:
Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar, son-in-law of PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif, is facing an uphill task to conquer his home constituency NA-21 Mansehra-II in the presence of potential candidates placed by JUI-F, JI and PTI in 2013 election.

The political observers believe that the real contest would be between Capt. Safdar and Laiq Muhammad Khan of JUI-F. Interestingly, all candidates put up by the JUI-F, JI and PTI have won this constituency in the past. Four time winner of the constituency and a dissident of PML-N Nawabzada Salahuddin Saeed is also in the field on the ticket of PTI posing serious challenge to the PML-N and JUI-F candidates.

Nawabzada had been winning this constituency since 1988 on the ticket of PML-N, but like others, he also quit the party after developing differences with the party leaders in the province.
