Sectarian Violence: Armed motorcyclists attack Shia cleric
Following the incident, the victims were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
KARACHI:
A Shia cleric, Maulana Baqar Zaidi, a Jaffaria Alliance member, was injured during an ambush on his vehicle in Liaquatabad on Saturday.
According to the police, Maulana Zaidi, was travelling with his police guard, assistant sub-inspector Syed Qasim Jaffery, when armed men on a motorcycle intercepted the vehicle at Liaquatabad No.4 and opened fire.
Following the incident, the victims were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Jaffery succumbed to his injuries. Maulana Zaidi’s condition is reportedly stable. No FIR had been registered till the filing of this report.
