LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge has sought comments from the Shahdara SHO on a petition seeking a case against four people for allegedly forcing a woman into prostitution.

The petitioner, the alleged victim’s mother, told the court that she had visited her daughter some days after the wedding and found her sitting on the floor wearing clothes stained with blood.

Her daughter told her that her husband, her mother-in-law and two other relatives had made her sleep with other men for money, the petitioner said. She had also been beaten and threatened when she had resisted.

The petitioner said that she the Shahdara SHO had refused to register her complaint. She asked the court to direct him to do so.

She also said in the petition that she had bought five tolas of gold jewellery – worth some Rs300,000 – and other goods worth Rs200,000 for her daughter’s dowry.
