Iranian and Indian oil ministers are due to discuss the extension of a Iran-Pakistan (IP) pipeline project which is due to take Iran’s rich gas reserves to Pakistan and then to India in a meeting in New Delhi next week. Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qassemi is slated to visit New Delhi next week to hold a meeting with Indian Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Veerappa Moily on the peace pipeline, Faras News Agency reported Saturday.
Earlier this month, Iranian Oil Ministry Spokesperson Alireza Nikzad Rahbar announced that New Delhi has renewed interest in the extension of (IP) gas pipeline to India. “Since India has been motivated by Pakistan’s seriousness in construction of the peace pipeline, India is negotiating to join the project.”
Last month, Iran and Pakistan officially inaugurated the construction of the project.

If India will be a partner in such project, Its a guarantee itself that US can not even think for the sanctions. However India is not going to become a partner. This is a hypothetical project at-least for 4 years.

India once again in this game of possible and expected sanctions by the US?But now I am sure that US shall never threat India for any possible sanctions if India gets gas from Iran...
no no no no no no more.
@antanu: "Great opportunity……but beware of US…it will definitely try to sabotage this."
There you go wrong again.
US is not sabotaging it. It is openly against it and has said so repeatedly. Want to know who is sabotaging it? It is Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Nawaz Sherif has never said openly at anytime that he would go for the pipeline at any cost. Imran Khan also never said that he shall go for the pipeline even if Saudis do not like it. He only issues murky and confusing statements and the solutions he has proposed for solving energy problem mention use of coal and not gas from Iran. PPP issues statements and goes for electioneering propaganda like inauguration ceremony but stays away from signing a binding contract with definite terms on all aspects such as price, quantity and timeframe.
This pipeline enters Pakistan through Baluchistan and the Baluch are not on board today. They blew us the existing pipeline just a day ago. The gas from Iran can never reach Karachi or even Punjab (Delhi Door Ast) until Baluchistan supports it or is subdued totally.
It is good for both the Nations as both India and Pakistan are not are not having sufficient oil products as for as sanctions are concerned both the Nations be together and there will be no effect of these sanctions.
Look its unfeasible.
Sanctions imposed on Iran specifically target the Hydrocarbon sector. Unless the sanctions are lifted it is literally not possible for India to participate in the project. Nor, will Pakistan be able to go ahead with it.
That is the precise intentions of the sanctions.
I am not finding this story reported in the Indian media. Only Pakistani media seems to be reporting it.
Great opportunity......but beware of US...it will definitely try to sabotage this.
