Sherpao criticises government, calls for timely elections
Timely elections are important to restore stability in the country, says QWP chief.
PESHAWAR:
Timely elections are important to restore stability in the country, said Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chief Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao while speaking at the Peshawar Press Club on Thursday.
Sherpao criticised the previous government for failing to establish durable peace in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), adding the law and order situation was responsible for the poor performance of the economy.
He further said an all-parties conference (APC) convened on national security had failed to find an amicable solution for militancy and terrorism in the country. “Presence of security forces in Malakand Division and tribal region indicates the government has no writ there.” He also pointed out the government had failed to overcome the power crisis.
Sherpao linked peace in Fata and K-P to stability in Afghanistan and said the post-2014 situation could be critical for Pakistan and the entire South Asian region.
He said if voted into power, the QWP would make an all-out effort to restore peace and economic prosperity in the province.
