Lrh kidnapping: ‘Child taken with mother’s consent’

LRH spokesperson Jamil Shah speculated it was a family issue and the mother knew the woman who took the child away.

PESHAWAR:
Snubbing reports of the alleged kidnapping of an infant from Lady Reading Hospital, the hospital’s administration on Wednesday claimed the child was taken with the mother’s consent.

According to a statement issued by the LRH administration, Sheheryar, a resident of Mashogar, brought his wife and 10-day-old son to the hospital on Monday as his wife was not feeling well. The doctors admitted her in a gynaecology ward at around 2pm the same day.

The administration said they received a complaint at 11:30pm that the child had gone missing, with the parents alleging that someone posing as a staff member had kidnapped the infant.

Consequently, the administration informed the nearby police station to probe the matter, added the statement.

However, LRH spokesperson Jamil Shah said the CCTV footage showed the woman had two attendants with her.

He added that a veiled woman came into her room, woke up the attendants and took the child. “Both attendants informed the mother when the lady took the infant.”

Shah speculated it was a family issue and the mother knew the woman who took the child away.
