Musharraf escape: IG Islamabad challenges decision declaring him responsible
IG says he had sent SSP Operations to Musharraf's farmhouse, no one was there.

Inspector General (IG) Islamabad Bani Amin challenged the Islamabad High Court’s decision, declaring him responsible for the escape of former President Musharraf’s from the court premises, in the Supreme Court on Wednesday, Express News reported.
Earlier, the IHC held Islamabad police chief responsible for the police’s failure to arrest former president Gen Pervez Musharraf and ordered to arrest Amin within 24 hours.
“I sent SSP Operations to Musharraf’s farmhouse that day but no one was there,” was the best excuse Amin came up with before IHC’s Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui when he asked the reason for Musharraf’s non-arrest.
In return, Justice Siddiqui termed the excuse “ridiculous” and accused Amin of lying before the court.
The former military ruler was allowed to leave the court by the police deployed at the high court on April 18 after his bail plea was rejected.
The police did not arrest Musharraf until 24 hours later, after which he was produced before a judicial magistrate.
The hearing regarding the challenge of IG police will be held today in the Supreme Court.
Benazir murder case
The Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench on Wednesday refused to extend bail for former military ruler Pervez Musharraf in connection with the murder of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, a lawyer said.
Musharraf, who attended a separate hearing relating to the Bhutto case on Tuesday, did not appear before the court Wednesday and neither did his main lawyer.
"The court dismissed General Musharraf's bail application," prosecution lawyer Chaudhry Azhar told reporters after the hearing.
"Now the FIA (federal investigative agency) should arrest him," he added.
Earlier, the bench had granted interim bail to Musharraf in the case on April 17. The bail, which ended today, had been granted against two surety bonds of Rs0.5 million each.
