KARACHI:
The Sindh government has appointed Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui as the new Karachi commissioner. He has replaced Hashim Raza Zaidi, who has been made Karachi administrator following Muhammad Hussain Syed’s transfer a few weeks ago.
These developments have come in the wake of a decision by the election commission to reshuffle the provincial bureaucrats appointed by the outgoing government.
Several political leaders and activists had cast doubts on the transparency of the elections in the presence of such officials. Soon after their complaints to Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retired) Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim, the provincial government had reshuffled many officials in almost all districts of Sindh except Karachi.
