Helping hand: Rescue 1122 to set up emergency points on Election Day
Rescue 1122 is fully prepared to handle any type of emergency during elections, says Rescue 1122 Director General.
PESHAWAR:
Keeping in mind the law and order situation of the province ahead of the general elections, Rescue 1122 is debating setting up special rescue points outside polling stations in Peshawar and Mardan.
A meeting was held on Monday at the district head office of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Emergency Rescue Services (Rescue 1122) to review their strategy for the day of the polls.
“Rescue 1122 is fully prepared to handle any type of emergency during elections. Ambulances along with travel staff will be deployed at different locations and key posts of the cities for a quick response to emergencies,” Rescue 1122 Director General (DG) Javed Ahmad told journalists during the meeting.
The organisation is also considering conducting rescue services training for police personnel and activists of political parties posted at polling stations in Peshawar and Mardan on Election Day.
Currently, there are seven rescue sub-stations in Peshawar and five in Mardan, where 40 to 50 personnel are deployed to respond to any emergency call, said Ahmad.
Rescue 1122 will work in close coordination with the police and district government officials on Election Day in order to provide adequate and timely services, the DG added.
