Nomination withdrawn: Hina Rabbani Khar steps down in favour of her father
Bids adieu to politics; Sheikh Waqas also withdraws papers to support his father in Jhang.

Hina Rabbani Khar, a former foreign minister, stepped down in favour of her father Noor Rabbani Khar contesting from NA-177 on PPP ticket against Jamshed Dasti, an independent candidate and former MNA.
Hina Khar withdrew her nomination papers on Thursday for the seat. She told reporters that she wants to leave politics now because she had stepped in only to replace her father who was not eligible due to the graduation condition applied in the 2002 elections.
“However, the condition has been lifted and Noor Rabbani Khar, my father is contesting from NA-177,” she said.
She clarified that she will never participate in politics and also does not want to be nominated on the reserved seat for women in parliament. She praised the political parties for honouring her efforts and who allowed her to serve the people of Pakistan for the last ten years. She also said that she was only a covering candidate for her father.
A Lahore High Court (LHC) full bench on Thursday provisionally allowed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Inamullah Khan Niazi to contest elections from NA-71 Mianwali and suspended decisions of returning officer (RO) and the election tribunal with regard to the rejection of his nomination papers.
The RO and the election tribunal had rejected the papers of Niazi for being a bank loan defaulter. The PTI leader had filed a petition challenging the orders.
The full bench headed by Justice Ijazul Ahsan suspended the impugned decisions and conditionally allowed Niazi to contest in the election. The bench also issued notices to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for April 25.
Sheikh Waqas Akram, former federal education minister, has withdrawn his nomination papers from NA 89-Jhang IV in favour of his father who acquired a PML-N ticket to contest elections from the same constituency.
After recently being allowed by an election tribunal to participate in the elections just a day before, Waqas Akram withdrew his nomination papers.
