Out with the old: New DG health appointed
The previous director general was arrested for his alleged involvement in the hepatitis C medication scandal.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government appointed Dr Muhammad Zafar as the new director general of the provincial health directorate on Thursday, according to an official notification. Dr Zafar has been appointed in the management cadre; he was previously the principal of the Public Health School, Hayatabad. The previous director general, Dr Sharif Ahmad Khan was arrested for his alleged involvement in the hepatitis C medication scandal. Dr Khan has been arrested on charges of procuring interferon injections, worth millions, which were found to be substandard. He and two other officials are under physical remand with the Anti-Corruption Establishment.
