A former local leader of the Awami National Party (ANP), Atifur Rehman on Thursday asked the party’s leadership to review their decision, saying he wishes to contest from the PK-5 constituency from ANP’s platform again.
Addressing a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club, Rehman claimed he had initiated a record number of development projects during his five-year stint at the constituency, but the party denied him the ticket to compete from there again.
He maintained he enjoyed full support as an independent candidate, but wanted to contest from the party’s platform. On the occasion, another independent candidate, Malik Imtiaz, announced his decision to withdraw candidacy in Rehman’s favour.
