KARACHI:
Former Punjab chief minister and leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Shahbaz Sharif met with Pakistan Muslim League-Functional chief Pir Pagara at Raja House in Karachi, and announced that after consensus, the alliance of ten opposition parties had finalised candidates to defeat PPP in Sindh.
Shahbaz Sharif also presided over a meeting with PML-N’s parliamentary board earlier during the day, where he announced the withdrawal of three PML-N candidates from Hyderabad, Faisal Athar Rajput from PS-45, Ali Bux Nizamani from PS-55 and Mir Manzoor Ali Talpur from PS-67. The meeting was also attended by party’s provincial chief Ghaus Ali Shah, Liaqat Jatoi, Saleem Zia, Nihal Hashmi and other leaders. However, all three candidates who were also present at the meeting walked out and announced to contest elections independently.
PML-F supremo Pir Pagara said that he had already predicted bloodbath during the election, and it was proving to be true.
He added that political parties had rigged the elections of 1971 but now the media is free and the nation with the help of the media and civil society would thwart conspiracies against elections.
Talking to reporters at Raja House, Shahbaz Sharif expressed distrust over the caretaker set-up in Sindh, saying it was a continuation of the Zardari government.
He said the caretaker chief minister was involved in fake land allotments due to which transparency during the election process in the province was doubtful.
He said the alliance in Sindh would break the status quo in the province and with the blessings of Pir Pagara, Nawaz Sharif would be the next prime minister of Pakistan.
He also expressed concern over the security of PML-N’s candidates and demanded the caretaker set-up in Sindh to provide foolproof security to all candidates of the party.
Talking about rejection of former president Pervez Musharraf’s nomination papers, he thanked God, adding that Musharraf had violated the constitution and that it would have been unfair if the former president was allowed to contest.
Regarding the Metro Bus service in Lahore, the PML-N leader said that his party would launch a similar project in Karachi if voted to power.
