The chief minister expressed grief over the people who lost their lives in Iran in the earthquake that occurred on Tuesday. “We are with the people of Iran in these testing times,” he said, while extending assistance to consul-general Subhani on behalf of the Sindh government.

He also stressed the need to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. “Pakistan is an agricultural country and better results can be achieved by developing the agro-industry,” he explained, adding that the agriculture sector needs to be developed on scientific lines to be able to achieve maximum crop production.
Subhani pointed out that there is great demand for wheat, fruits, rice, meat and textile products in Iran. “Pakistan can make substantial profit by exporting these products to Iran,” he added. He also mentioned that work on Iran Pakistan Gas pipeline is in progress and that 900 kilometres of the 1,200-km-long pipeline have been completed. “The Iranian government has begun operating direct flights from Karachi to Tehran and from Karachi to Mashhad which will benefit the people of both countries.”
While commenting on the upcoming elections, the consul-general added that the Iranian government will support free and transparent elections in Pakistan. The chief minister added that the interim government’s prime responsibility was to ensure that the elections were transparent and it was providing all possible assistance to the election commission to make this possible.
