The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has been reduced to Zardari group and is a far cry from the party founded and nourished by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.

A PPP stalwart, Haji Munawwar Ali Abbasi, made these claims at a press conference at his residence on Tuesday evening. He also said that they were the real heirs of the PPP left by the Bhuttos.

Munawwar accused the PPP leadership of massive corruption and said they not only usurped millions of rupees of development funds but also sold government jobs with price tags ranging from Rs300,000 to Rs400,000 per job. They have forgotten Zulfikar and Benazir Bhutto and should be ashamed of calling themselves PPP leaders.

Munawwar claimed that many parties have contacted him but he will never quit the PPP as it was not anybody’s property and belonged to diehard jiyalas like him. He also announced that he would contest from PS-38 (Miro Khan) from the platform of the real PPP and not the ‘government’ PPP.  Shafqat Hussain Unnar, a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz candidate from PS-38, announced quitting the PML-N and joining the Abbasi group.
